Wellness Staples I Always Bring When Traveling

Travel-Wellness-Essentials.JPG

Traveling this past weekend got me thinking on the subject of how much my small wellness habits have improved my overall health. I used to always get sick and/or worn down when traveling, but now I really make an effort to keep up with healthy practices and it makes ALL the difference with my energy and health! I can fit most of these items in a small cosmetic case/bag or a Stasher bag, so they don’t take up much room but pack a powerful punch. In fact, my wellness kit is now one of the first things I pack in my carryon. These are some things I always bring with me…

My vitamins, supplements + digestive enzymes

I find that I need my vitamins and supplements more than ever when traveling to stay healthy, keep my hormones balanced, and keep my skin clear! My vitamin/pill case is always one of the first things I pack. My vitamins and supplements also include a shelf-stable probiotic (love this one and this one) + a digestive enzyme. I prefer a shelf-stable probiotic over a refrigerated one a) because I can travel with them and b) because there’s a smaller chance of their potency being compromised (during shipment, travel, etc.). I’m new to taking digestive enzymes, but basically I take one right as I start eating something out of the ordinary. I like to take one if I’m eating out (and can’t control every ingredient) or if I’m going to eat some gluten, dairy or grains (which tends to happen more often when traveling).

Herbal Teas

If you watch my Instagram stories at all, you know how much I love my variety of herbal teas! :) I find I can get a cup of hot water at pretty much every hotel and AirBnb, or at least while out to breakfast/brunch. While I love to get a nice herbal tea at a coffee shop when traveling, it’s nice to have a cheaper option with you for first thing in the morning or right before bed.

Some of my favorites to bring are a liver cleanse tea, peppermint and ginger teas for digestion, and sometimes a smooth move tea in case travel throws off my digestion/schedule ;)

Individual collagen peptide packs

I use a tub of collagen on a daily basis, but the individual packs of collagen peptides are perfection for traveling! Collagen is great for skin, hair and nail health, improves your joint function, and slows skin aging from the inside out. I swear by it! I usually just dissolve a pack into a hot tea or coffee/matcha.

Collagen shots

These are a new addition for me, but I love these collagen shots for their anti-inflammatory ingredients and serving of collagen as well. I’m always wary of inflammation and illness while traveling, so I love drinking one of these on a travel day (and they’re small enough to put in your carryon).

Healthy snacks

Healthy snacks an absolute must for me when traveling (even for weekend trips). I tend to have low blood sugar, and thrive much more when I can eat something every few hours as well as within 90 minutes of waking. Since meals times can get really wonky when traveling and airport restaurants and allergen free options can be slim, I consider healthy snacks a travel essential. Some that I usually pack are Flackers, pepitas, Raw Rev Glo bars and IQ bars (both bars are clean + high in fiber).

Elderberry + zinc lozenges

Both elderberry and zinc are powerful sickness fighters, so I love these lozenges for if my immune system needs a boost or if my throat starts to get that dreaded twinge. They’re small and easy to stuff into a little pocket or cosmetics case.
